*Additional stripes can be used for an eventual kid’s class and if a student falls short of the expected belt proficiencies needed to grade up.
Proficiency requirements to be promoted to the next grade will be based upon being able to complete the required techniques with speed, power, timing, and application proportionate with the student’s ability and experience. Each grade will have its own set of combinations and techniques that the student will have to demonstrate in 5 ways.

  • • Individually
  • • In a moving sequence
  • • With a partner in a moving drill
  • • Hitting pads
  • • In a sparring session

Students will have to have a minimum of 70% attendance (extenuating circumstances are to be discussed with the instructors).
The final decision of granting a promotion is at the discretion of the Curacuraland kickboxing academy instructors.

Striking - Hands/Elbows Legs/Knee Blocks Stances Clinch/Grappling

Proficiency is not needed in each technique until it aligns with the belt level. Each set of required techniques builds upon the previous sets. Students will have to be able to do all combinations up and including the new techniques for their new belt level.

What is Muay Thai or Thai Boxing?

“Muay” translates into “Boxing” in Thai, so Muay Thai literally means Thai boxing. Muay Thai is a Stand-Up striking sport with two competitors throwing punches, elbows, knees and kicks at each other. Head Clinching, Leg Sweeps and Throws are also permitted in Muay Thai. Muay Thai is referred to the “Art of Eight Limbs” being fighters can strike with fists, elbows, knees, and shins.

Class Focus:

  • Build a Foundation (Footwork, Elbows, Knees, Kick's & Punching),
  • Striking Combinations (Continue to build on foundation and apply striking into combinations/techniques),
  • Clinch Work (Controlling the Head of your Opponent to help open up striking opportunity/throws) - Pad Work (Build on Cardio and Foundation while executing: Elbows, Knees, Kick's & Punching)
